An Earth-inspired typeface designed by Siyu Cao that creates shapes and letters from classic typographic map features. The two-dimensional forms are great, but the 3-D carvings really drive it to the mountaintop.

I’ve seen a lot of Earth as Art projects, but never a typeface. Excellent work.

Lady, if this was ever put on a t-shirt I’d wear the shit out of it. Especially while trolling Sephora holding a slice in my hand. Because I’m the exact same way.

I did kind of make this with the intention of it being a t-shirt design since I need to design some shirts so… anyone want one? Let me know in some kind of note or message or email or whatever and I’ll make it happen.

We were visiting the Maps Division today and spied a book from the fantastically-named Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, published around 1837. The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (also known as SDUK) published several interesting books for the diffusion of knowledge, including one about “Vegetable Substances,” many of which you can find at the Library.
